Nefandus Desiderium

The tavern was dark, as taverns often are. It was lit only by a fire in the hearth and the shine of its reflection in the armour of the patrons peppered throughout the building.  The building itself was sturdy, yet old and well used, with winding paths worn into the floor to and from the door and the bar and the various tables that had seen better days.  If you looked closely you could make out stories in the surreal mess of marks and scars on the tables surfaces.  Though one thing you could be sure of was that there was not one droplet of blood anywhere within the Advena, everyone knew better than to fight withi

Periwinkle“Periwinkle…… Periwinkle……” A pleasant female voice gently but insistently tore through the quickly fading fantasy of warmth and flowers that the young Halfling allowed to drift through her mind.  Sleepily the child opened her eyes and sat up.  Standing at her bedside was her mother, a beauty if there was one, long black hair shining and eyes sparkling in the candlelit room.  The woman smiled at first at the child and then heavenly laughter escaped her lips as she looked down upon her daughter, hair stuck to her face on one side and jutting out at a comical angle on the other. & Periwinkle

Earthhow quickly fate can change  in the briefest of moments  a world can be created or destroyed  fate knows not whom it crushes  nor does it care  numbers  as uncaring as fate  counted all the same  with each one  an almost physical sickness grips her being  watching helplessly  as her fate is decided  as she glances slowly around  she remembers  she is not alone  she can however  smell the fear  not as well as the earth can  but the earth knows many things she does not  it knows how many numbers are left  the earth does not fear  it grins &n Earth

Fireburning flames  consuming all in their path  passion  hatred  destruction  creation  all a cause of the devouring flames  tempting blaze  that burns within the soul  the spark  that brings happiness and joy  embers of a haunted past  I cannot see through the flames  their brightness scorches my eyes  will I be burned through  or warmed  time will tell  or perhaps it is too late  fire consume me  and may I be cleansed  or lost  forever  I must submit to the intensity  for without it I am nothing Fire

One of my favorites is a picture done by Phantom Fate (I apologize I as of yet still do not know how to link things in DA), it was entitled Green Doll, and has the following quote on it; 'Sometimes we don't do the things we want to do so others won't know we want to do them'.
It got me thinking, first of all it's true; many of the things we wish to do we won't, just to save 'face'. And secondly, many of the things we do, we don't want to, we simply do them because we feel that's what others expect or want. We live in a society that preaches individuality and personal freedom, though I can think of almost no one that practices those things in their entirity, myself included. Everything we do and say is tempered by what we believe is acceptable to those around us.

That being said life is going differently than I expected it to. Just when you think it's a sunny day it rains.
